What Happens During Implant Surgery?
Before your appointment, your Anaheim implant dentist will discuss dental sedation options. At your appointment, we’ll
ensure the sedation is working correctly. Once you’re asleep or completely relaxed, your dentist
will numb your gums and jawbone to ensure your comfort.
After your tissues are numbed, your dentist will make an incision into the gum tissue. If necessary,
they’ll use a laser or handpiece to create a space in the jawbone for the implant. This isn’t always
necessary, especially if the tooth is recently extracted.
The next step is to insert the titanium implant(s). Once that’s completed, your dentist will suture
the gum tissue closed and place a temporary restoration for healing.
How Long Before You Can Get Your Dental Implant Crown?
Because it takes months for the implant to integrate into the jawbone, you’ll need to wait until it
is stable enough to restore. The process takes three to six months. Then, we can place your porcelain crowns or other restorations.
