What Are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are dental appliances that are surgically implanted into the jawbone. The goal is to
restore the patient’s smile after losing a tooth or multiple teeth.
After the dental implant integrates into the jawbone, a porcelain crown is placed over the implant. The crown
looks and feels like your natural teeth.
Dental implants are incredibly strong and can restore your dental function so you can chew and speak
with ease.
Dental implants are a durable and permanent option for patients who are missing teeth. In essence,
they consist of three parts: a metal post, abutment, and dental prosthesis. The post is usually made
of titanium and is carefully positioned in the jawbone. Once this has adequately healed, an abutment
will be screwed into it, and the dental prosthesis, which may be a bridge or dental
crown, is attached.
